NOT QUITE TRUE... they take a small percentage of the cut and if you publish your book as a paperback or hardback book you have to pay them to publish it and that is paid through the price.

Yes, publishing your book on Barnes & Noble Press is free! There are no hidden costs, setup fees, or charges to upload and list your book on their platform.

Don't argue with me, argue with Barnes & Noble

AGAIN, NOT TRUE, it may be "free", but they get a small cut of your royalties same with amazon. My paperback book on amazon cost $5.50, I only get $1.00 the rest is their cut of the royalties and to pay for the print job.

Does amazon take a percentage of yourself publishing a book?

Yes, Amazon takes a percentage of the earnings from self-published books. The percentage depends on the royalty rate and the price of the book.

Explanation

You can self-publish on Amazon for free, and you keep control of the price, design, and content of your book.

Amazon takes a portion of your earnings to cover printing costs.

The royalty rate is based on the list price of your book.

The royalty rate can be 35% or 70%.

The sales commission is based on the royalty rate.

For example, if you set your book's price at $17.99 and have a 60% royalty rate, you would make $10.79 in royalties.

After subtracting printing costs, you would have your take-home pay.

You can publish your book in print and digital formats, and it can appear on Amazon stores worldwide within 72 hours. You can also enroll in KDP Select to make your book available to Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

So, in other words, your making 70% in royalties while Amazon is taking 30%. So yeah, it free to publish on there, but they do take a percentage. paperback you're also paying for the printing process, which also comes out of the sale.
